After facing defeat in the Second World War, the Axis powers were made to sign a peace treaty with the Allied Powers. This peace treaty was called the Treaty of Versailles. This was a humiliating and rather harsh treaty for Germany. Germany lost its overseas colonies to the victors of the Second World War. One-tenth of its population was lost, and 13% of its territory was taken away. Along with this, 75 per cent of its iron and 26 per cent of its coal were given to France, Poland, Denmark, and Lithuania. With these points, Germany’s strength was weakened by the Allied Powers.
