Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The Non-Cooperation Mоvement started with middle-class participation in the cities. Hence thousands of students left government-controlled schools and colleges, principals and teachers resigned, and lawyers ceased practising law. However, the economic consequences of non-cooperation were more dramatic. Foreign goods were seized, liquor stores were raided, and foreign clothing was burned in massive bonfires. As a result, between 1921 and 1922, the value of  the foreign currency fell by half, from Rs 102 crore to Rs 57 crore. Moreover, merchants and traders also refused to trade and finance the import of foreign goods. Consequently, people began to use only Swadeshi goods and clothes, thus increasing the production of Indian handloom textiles.
