Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Maratha expeditions did not threaten the growth and wealth of the cities in the area into Malwa in the 1720s. Under the support of Sindhia, Ujjain expanded, whereas Holkar supported Indore. These cities, by all accounts, were large, prosperous, and served as significant hubs for commerce and culture. Within the Marathas' sphere of influence, new trade routes opened up. The Maratha capital of Poona served as a substantial market for the silk made in the Chanderi region. Burhanpur, which had previously taken part in the trade between Agra and Surat, now included Pune and Nagpur in the south and Lucknow and Allahabad in the east as part of its frontier.
