This publication's strong advocacy outlawed the Sathi Pratha. The Sambad Kaumudi (in Bengali) and Mir'at Al-Akhbar (in Persian) are two weekly vernacular newspapers that Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded and edited. He was also a founding member of the English daily "Bengal Herald,". These were all published by Raja Ram Mohan Roy between 1772 and 1833. He is referred to in his book by Rangaswami Parthasarathy as the father of Indian journalism.
