Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The first cotton mill in India was established in Bombay in 1854. Since the early 19th century, Bombay has been an important port for exporting raw cotton from India to Britain and China. It is close to the vast black land of western India, where cotton is grown. When cotton mills are newly established, they can quickly source raw materials. In 1900, more than 84 factories started operating in Bombay. Many were founded by Parsi and Gujarati entrepreneurs who made money from trading with China. Windmills also appear in other towns. The first factory in Ahmedabad was started in 1861. A year later, a factory was established in Kanpur, United Provinces. The first major push in the development of industrial cotton production in India thus took place during World War I, when textile imports from Britain fell, and Indian mills were called upon to produce fabrics for military supplies.
