They perceived it as a mound that contained a plentiful supply of ready-made, high-quality bricks. To construct railway lines, they removed thousands of bricks from the walls of the city's old structures. Many structures were totally demolished. Archaeologists eventually discovered the location about 80 years ago and discovered that this was one of the oldest cities on the subcontinent. Since this was the first city to be uncovered, all additional locations where comparable structures (and other items) were unearthed were referred to as Harappan sites. These towns grew roughly 4700 years ago.
