Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The word "coolie" has many other implications and may be considered offensive or derogatory depending on historical and geographical circumstances. The term "pen trade" refers to the forced or deceptive importation of Asian contract workers (particularly Chinese and Indians) in the nineteenth century. It happened during the "phasing out" of slavery in the early 19th century, and Coolie was used as an alternative to slave labour. From the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, "Cooley" was a term that usually meant contract workers from South Asia, Southeast Asia, or China. However, in today's Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, "coolie" is considered derogatory or racially offensive to Asians. This is especially true for South Africa, East Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Jamaica, Mauritius, Fiji, and the Malaysian Peninsula. The important purpose is to prevent words of disrespect such as "coolie."
