The yield of wheat which is grown by using traditional methods was 1300 kg per hectare, whereas the yield of wheat grown by using HYV seeds went from 1300 kg per hectare to 3200 kg per hectare. This new method of production was first adopted in the northern states like Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and this was called the green revolution.
