Detailed Solution

The above statement is True.
Wajid Ali Shah, the 11th King of Awadh and the last, ruled from 1847 to 1856. He was deposed by the British in 1856, making Awadh one of the final territories to be annexed by the British. The reason that was given for this annexation was the apparent misgovernance of the province. Lord Dalhousie stated that a better governance model was required in Awadh, so the British took it over. After he was removed from the throne, Wajid Ali Shah was exiled to Kolkata. He received a generous pension and passed away 21 years later, in 1887.
