Bhabar is a narrow belt parallel to the Shiwalik range. The plains of north India are divided into four parts: Bhabar, Terai, Bhangar, and Khadar. Rivers deposit pebbles in the Bhabar belt as they descend from the mountains. The width of this belt is about 8-10 km. This narrow belt runs east to west along the foothills of the Shiwalik range of the Himalayas. This belt is wide in western and northwestern hills and relatively small in eastern hills. This belt is unsuitable for agricultural activities, and large trees are found there. The Bhabar Plain is popular with tall trees with big roots. These plains are located south of Shiwalik from Jammu to Assam.
