Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
Mughals were the descendants originating from two great royal families. They were descended from Genghis Khan, a Mongol emperor who reigned over regions of China and Central Asia, on their mother's side. They were Timur's successors from their father's side, who ruled Iran, Iraq, and modern-day Turkey. The Mughals, however, disliked the terms ‘Mughal’ or ‘Mongol.’ This was due to the fact that Genghis Khan's name was associated with the mass slaughter of numerous people over the globe. It was also connected to their competitors, the Uzbegs. The Mughals were, however, proud of their Timurid heritage as each monarch had a portrait of Timur and himself created to commemorate their family history.
