Thus, the Raikas combined cultivation with pastoralism. During the monsoons, the Raikas of Banner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner stay in their home village, where the grassland is. In October, when these grasslands become dry and exhausted, the Raikas leave searching for other pastures and water and return the following year's rainy season. One group of Raikas, known as the Maru Raikas, graze camels and another group herds goats and sheep.
