The given statement is true.

The small intestine is longer and narrower than the large intestine. As the small intestine is the primary site of nutrient absorption, it is much longer than the large intestine, measuring approximately 6 to 7 metres (20 to 23 feet) in adults.

In comparison, the length of the large intestine is only about 1.5 metres (5 feet). With an average diameter of 2.5 to 3.5 cm. The small intestine is also much narrower than the large intestine (1 to 1.5 inches).

The large intestine has a thicker wall and a different arrangement of muscle layers, allowing it to mix and move indigestible material through the colon and rectum.

The large intestine is designed for water and electrolyte reabsorption.

The wider and shorter design of the large intestine provides the necessary space and volume for faeces to form and absorption of water and electrolytes.
