3 (2 x + y) = 7 xy

and

3 (x + 3 y) = 11 xy

3 (\frac{2 x + y}{xy}) = 7

and

3 (\frac{x + 3 y}{xy}) = 11

3 (\frac{2 x}{xy} + \frac{y}{xy}) = 7

and

3 (\frac{x}{xy} + \frac{3 y}{xy}) = 11

3 (\frac{2}{y} + \frac{1}{x}) = 7

and

3 (\frac{1}{y} + \frac{3}{x}) = 11

Put

\frac{1}{x} = a

and

\frac{1}{y} = b

, we get
3(2b + a) = 7 and 3(b + 3a) = 11
6b + 3a = 7 …(i)
3b + 9a = 11 …(ii)
Multiply eq (ii) with 2, we get
6b + 18a = 22 …(iii)
Subtract eq (i) from (iii), we have
6b + 18a – 6b – 3a = 22 – 7
15a = 15
a = 1
Put the value of a in eq (i), we get
6b + 3 = 7
6b = 4

\frac{1}{x} = 1
