The above statement is true. If one says that it is good if people in India avoid inter-caste marriages, then it is false, even when it is a harsh truth of Indian society. Whereas there is nothing terrible about marrying one’s daughter or son in the same caste, it is inhumane and non-justifiable if people go against inter-caste marriages. However, one more thing is quite insensible out of the orthodox beliefs that parents still consider it their authority to marry their children to whoever they want, often trying to coax and pressure them into marrying within the same caste. On average, only 5.58 per cent of women marry men of lower caste, and 5.38 per cent of men marry women lower in the caste hierarchy. When observed, marrying in the same caste against the wishes of the two people coming into the marriage brings nothing but chaos and the feeling of incompleteness for a lifetime. In an inter-caste marriage, no one loses anything except some unreasonable and harsh taboo.
