Detailed Solution

The above statement is true. In ancient India, there were panchayats, or village assemblies, which were self-governing organisations with clear-cut roles. The Panchayat was an institution that reflected the collective wisdom and will of the entire rural community. In Rajasthan, village panchayats were present in much the same way as in other regions of the nation. The situation was altered by the introduction of a highly decentralised system of judicial administration under British control, which had a negative impact on the village Panchayat system. There was an effort to create local organisations under the Viceroy, Lord Ripon. The princely realms of Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Sirohi, Udaipur, and Karauli passed panchayat-related laws in Rajasthan. The state of Bikaner already had its own Gram Panchayat Act in 1928.
