Shia Muslims believed in Prophet Mohammad. The Islamic religion was divided into two forms based on the people who believed in different forms of philosophy of it. Shia was one such form where the Shiites believed in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad but also in his son-in-law named Ali. Another form of a sect within Muslims was Sunni who accepted the authority of Khalifas and their successors.
