Maximilien Robespierre’s rule was known as ‘the Reign of Terror’ in France in the year 1793-1794. He followed the policy of control and punishment and issued laws placing a maximum ceiling on wages and prices. He also rationed meat and bread. Citizens were only allowed to eat a loaf of bread made of whole wheat as the expensive wheat flour was not to be used. A fixed price was provided by the government for the peasants to sell and transport their grains in the cities. Robespierre was arrested, imprisoned, and tried by a revolutionary tribunal that did work by his methods. Hence the statement is true.
