Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The Non-Cooperation movement had dramatic effects on the economic front as foreign goods were boycotted, and foreign clothes were burnt on bonfires. As a result, the import of European clothes halved between 1921 and 1922, its value dropping from Rs. 102 cr. to Rs. 52 cr. Hence, merchants and traders refused foreign trade and its financing in many places. On the other hand, as the boycott movement spread, people began discarding imported clothes in favour of wearing only Indian ones. Consequently, the production of Indian textile mills and handlooms went up. The main reason for boycotting foreign goods was to challenge the British colonial power's well-established economic and governance structure.
