Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The Mughals came from two illustrious royal families. They were descended from Genghis Khan, the Sultan of the Mongol tribes, through their mother. On their father's side, they were the heirs apparent to Timur, the former Emperor, who ruled the territories, including Iran, Iraq, and contemporary Turkey. As the Timurids had earned a high reputation throughout history, the Mughals were proud of their ancestry. However, Ghengis Khan is remembered for the catastrophic killing of countless people, and the Mughals emphasised their Timurid ancestry more than their Mongol origins. Therefore, they were pleased that Timur had taken Delhi in 1398.
