Detailed Solution

The above statement is false.
Russian Orthodox Christianity was the only religion followed in Russia.
The Russian Orthodox Church was closely related to the autocratic government during the 1917 Revolution and was accorded official status. The most widely practised religion in Russia is Christianity, particularly Russian Orthodoxy, but there are also sizable minorities of atheists and followers of other faiths. Even so, although there were other religions, most people practised Russian orthodox Christianity, which evolved from the Greek Orthodox church during the revolution. Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, and Buddhists were all represented in the empire. The Russian Empire was the only governmental entity in the world to have large populations belonging to the four main religions by the nineteenth century. It had evolved into an empire of religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Buddhism).
The correct statement would be that Russian orthodox Christianity was not the only religion followed in Russia.
