Chronicler Minhaj-i-Siraj recognised Razziya Sultana as the more able and talented child of Sultan Iltutmish. Raziyya, in his opinion, was considerably superior to her brothers. Compared to her brothers, he saw her as more efficient and talented. Raziyya has crowned Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate in 1236, making her the first woman Sultan of Delhi in history. The motive for crowning her as Sultan appears to be more pragmatic. Being a woman Sultan, on the other hand, was not simple. The citizens and subjects of the state could not accept a woman as ruler, nor could the aristocrats and males in the administration. They opposed Raziyya acting as Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate, so she was dethroned shortly after becoming Sultan in 1240.
