On returning from London and facing the failure of the round table conference, Mahatma Gandhi took conscious steps to relaunch the civil disobedience movement. This movement was relaunched because many nationalist leaders, namely; Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan & Jawahar Lal Nehru, were imprisoned, with Gandhiji in London attending the second round table conference. The British Government was back to using oppressive methods to suppress meetings, demonstrations and boycotts like national activities. The biggest reason to relaunch the civil disobedience movement was that the Indian National Congress was declared illegal. These were some of the few reasons why Mahatma Gandhi carefully relaunched the Civil Disobedience movement for the Indian independence movement
