Detailed Solution

The given statement is True.

Soap is made by the process of saponification and it is a water-soluble compound.  Saponification is the reaction between potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide with vegetable or animal oil that is fat. The soap molecule comprises potassium or sodium salts of long-chain carboxylic acids. The oil dissolves the carbon chain present in the soap and water dissolves the ionic end. Thus, soap molecules form structures called micelles. It has two ends. One end is towards the oil droplet and the other ionic end faces outside. This forms an emulsion in water and it helps in dissolving all the dirt when we wash our clothes.

Hence, the clothes become clean after washing them with soap.
