Detailed Solution

The correct statement is true.
Tea and Coffee are the major beverage crops grown in India. There are many reasons for the same. Tea plants need tropical and subtropical climates that are ideally present in India and lead to their production. Secondly, tea crops need a type of soil rich in humus and organic matter; that type of soil is also available. And lastly, the cultivation of tea requires a warm, moist and frost-free climate throughout the year, which is available in North-Eastern states, and the plucking of tea leaves is labour oriented. In India, labour is easily available. Coffee production is usually done in the hill tracts of South-Western India, especially in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. This is because of proper and required climatic conditions that made the production of coffee possible.
