Detailed Solution

Commercial electric motors do not use a permanent magnet to rotate the armature.
A commercial electric motor employs the following features:
a)      An electromagnet in place of a permanent magnet.
b)     Many conductor wire turns in the current carrying coil.
c)      The coil is wound on a soft iron core.
An armature is a combination of a soft iron core and a coil. It increases the power of the motor. Because permanent magnets are weak and do not produce a strong magnetic field in the region, commercial electric motors do not use them to rotate the armature.
