Detailed Solution

Conductors can pass the electricity, whereas insulators cannot.
“Conductors are materials that allow charges to flow through them easily”. In other words, "materials which allow the electric current to pass through them are conductors of electricity." Charges rapidly rise from your body and strike the doorknob. The rapid discharge feels like a shock. Metals such as chromium and silver are good electrical conductors.
Insulators are materials that prevent charges from easily passing through them. In other words, "materials which do not allow the electric current to pass through them are insulators of electricity." When you touch the wooden door, charges slowly travel onto its surface. You don't feel it because the discharge is slow. Rubber, plastic, glass, and even air are excellent insulators.
