Consider the setup of a Ferris wheel in an amusement park. The wheel is turning in a counterclockwise manner. Contrary to the illustration, not all seats are aligned horizontally, i.e. parallel to the x-axis. Determine the orientation of the normal to seat as it passes Point A. 

The seat is experiencing a centripetal force and a force due to gravity when it passed through point A. Centripetal force tends it to move in second quadrant and gravitational force tends it to move in fourth quadrant.

Hence, the orientation of normal to the seat is in the second/fourth quadrant.
