Detailed Solution

Convection occurs in fluids that is only in liquids and gases.
When heat is transferred through a gas or liquid by the hotter material moving into a cooler area that is called convection. Convection is a phenomenon in which the actual movement of matter is involved. The part of the matter which is directly heated becomes lighter, and rises up and takes the place of the colder part of the matter. Then the colder part becomes heated and this cycle is repeated.  So, convection can occur only in matter which is capable of showing motion. We know that solids cannot show any kind of motion. Thus, convection cannot occur in solids. Convection, therefore, occurs through liquids and gases only that is only in fluids.
