Detailed Solution

Converging power of eye lens in defect of hypermetropia decreases.
Hypermetropia, also known as long-sightedness, is an eye defect which can be corrected by convex lenses. A person with hypermetropia can see distant objects clearly yet cannot see nearby objects because the image is formed behind the retina and is corrected by convex lenses. In hypermetropia, the focal length of the eye lens increase. Hence the power decrease as the power of the lens is inversely proportional to the focal length. A convex lens is used because it is a converging lens and forms the image at the retina by converging the light rays entering the eye.
