Detailed Solution

Corn laws restrict the import of Corn. The purpose of this law was to support domestic grain producers by maintaining the high price of grain. The British enacted these regulations to establish limitations on the import of Corn into Britain. Industrialists and city residents forced the removal of the corn laws because they were unhappy with the high cost of food. Because the corn laws restricted free trade, most manufacturers and landlords were likewise opposed to them. Cities grew as a result of the expansion of industrialization. As a result, food grains were being bought on the market by an increasing number of people. Societal dissatisfaction developed as the prices increased. As a result, the government had to repeal the Corn Laws.
