There are two classes of fibres: synthetic and natural fibres. Natural fibres in turn are of two types: plant-obtained and animal-obtained. Natural fibres are of two types plant and animal fibres. Natural fibres are those which are obtained from animal hairs and plant products or plant parts such as stems, roots, and fruits. Fibres obtained from seed are cotton while flax and hemp are obtained from stem.
