Cotton Mill satyagraha took place in Ahmedabad by Gandhiji in the year 1918. The mill workers demanded the continuation of the plague bonuses denied by the mill owners. Gandhiji advised the workers to lead the struggle in the form of satyagraha and resort to non-violent means. When the workers began to withdraw, Gandhiji went on a fast to inspire them to continue pressuring the mill owners to heed the demands. Finally, the mill owners agreed to the terms of Gandhiji. The issue was presented before a Tribunal. The Tribunal granted a hike of 35% to the wages of the peasants.
