Countries with higher income are considered more developed than others with less income. While comparing countries based on development, income is regarded as one of the main factors facilitating the comparison. Therefore, a country with more income is viewed as more developed since more income implies that its citizens can meet their individual needs or developmental goals. A country's income is its national income, i.e., the total incomes of all the citizens of that country. However, national income is not a reliable measure of comparison since it is affected by a country's population. Thus, to eliminate the effect on people, we use average income or per capita income, which is the total national income of a country divided by its population.
