Court poet of king Harshavardhana was Banabhatta. Banabhatta creates Sanskrit prose and poetry. His earliest and most famous work was Kadambari. He was Ashtana Kavi, the court poet of King Harshavardhana, who reigned over northern India from 606 to 647 C.E. He promoted Buddhism and established numerous Buddhist stupas over his entire kingdom. Banabhatta wrote the biography of Harshavardhana which was Harshacharita. It describes his association with Thanesar and Kannauj.
