CR Das, Motilal Nehru, N.C.Kelkar formed the Swaraj Party.
The Swaraj Party or the Congress-Khilafat Swarajya Party was formed on 1st January 1923 by C R Das and Motilal, the national leaders. The Party was formed when many vital events took place., like the withdrawal of the non-cooperation movement, the Government of India Act of 1919 and the 1923 elections. When the Chauri-Chaura incident happened, the Non-Cooperation movement was called off by Gandhiji. But there were many disagreements among the leaders. Whereas some needed to continue non-cooperation, others needed to finish the legislative assembly boycott and contest elections. The others who needed to enter the lawmakers and hinder the nation’s government were known as the pro-changers. In 1922, within the Gaya session of the Congress, C R Das enraptured a proposal to enter the legislatures, but it was defeated. Das and alternative leaders were far from Congress and shaped the Swaraj Party.
