Cretinism, caused by severe hypothyroidism during early childhood, leads to intellectual disability, growth retardation, delayed bone development, physical malformations, impaired speech and hearing, and delayed puberty. 

Cessation of menstruation occurs naturally at the age of around 50 years in females and is termed menopause.
