Detailed Solution

Crude oil that we extract from the earth is a fossil fuel and hence, a non-renewable resource. Non-renewable resources refer to those resources which cannot be immediately replenished or replaced once they get depleted or used up. Example of Non-renewable resources includes fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, natural gas, and rare minerals from meteorites. The resources that are exactly opposite to these are renewable. Renewable resources are those resources that get replenished or renewed naturally over time and thus cannot get exhausted. Examples of renewable resources include air, water, wind, solar energy, etc. But that does not mean that these resources cannot be overused. Destructive human activities are mainly responsible for such an over-utilization of resources- both renewable and non-renewable.
