Dandi March started on 12th March 1930. Women played an essential role in the civil disobedience movement as they participated in large numbers. On Mahatma Gandhi’s call, thousands of women came out of their homes, participated in the civil disobedience movement, and listened to Gandhiji during his Dandi March. These women who participated in the protest marches against the colonial government helped Gandhi break the salt law and manufacture salt from seawater. They picketed foreign clothes and liquor shops. Many women also went to jail. These women were moved by Gandhiji’s call and realised their sacred duty toward the nation. But they were not provided any political positions in Congress for a long time.
