Detailed Solution

Dandi March was over 240 miles from Gandhi's ashram in Sabarmati to the Gujarati coastal town of Dandi. Gandhi saw in salt a powerful symbol that would bring the country together. Seventy-eight of Mahatma Gandhi's reliable volunteers were with him when he began his salt march. For 24 days, the volunteers completed 10 miles per day of walking. Wherever Mahatma Gandhi went, crowds of people flocked to hear him speak. He explained what swaraj meant and urged them to resist the British in a nonviolent manner.
