Dayananda Saraswati established the Arya Samaj, a Hindu reform movement, on April 10th, 1875 in Bombay.
It encouraged principles and behaviours derived from the Vedic teachings. This community's residents shunned idol worship and held to a single deity. Proselytization, or the practice of converting to Hinduism, was possibly initially introduced by this Hindu organization. Dayananda Saraswati established the Gurukul, a school stressing Vedic culture, Sanatana dharma, and virtue, as the first step in his campaign to transform the country's traditional Hinduism.
