Detailed Solution

The Declaration of the Rights of Women and Female Citizens was written by Olympe de Gouges. She was a French political activist and playwright whose writings on women’s rights and abolitionism had influenced a widespread audience across many countries. In 1788, she became an outspoken advocate against the slave trade in French colonies. She was known to object to the practice of male authority and the notion of male-female inequality. During the reign of terror, she was executed by guillotine on the accusation of attacking the Revolutionary government and for her association with the Girondists.
