Detailed Solution

Protoplasmic Grade of Organisation in Protozoans

The protoplasmic grade of organisation is the simplest level of structural organization seen in living organisms. In this grade:

  • The entire organism consists of a single cell.
  • All vital life functions such as nutrition, respiration, excretion, reproduction, and locomotion are carried out within that one cell.
  • Specialized organelles within the cell (like pseudopodia, cilia, flagella, contractile vacuoles, nucleus, etc.) perform the functions of tissues and organs found in higher organisms.

Protozoans, such as Amoeba, Paramecium, and Euglena, show this protoplasmic grade of organization.

In short: In protozoans, the whole organism is unicellular, and a single cell performs all necessary functions of life.
