Define the following:
(a) Anionic detergents
(b) Limited spectrum antibiotics
(c) Antiseptics

(a) Sodium salts of sulphonated long chain alcohols or hydrocarbons are anionic detergents. They have anions at the soluble ends of the chains. Ex: Sodium n-dodecyl benzene sulphonate.

(b) The antibiotics which are effective against a single organism or disease are called as limited spectrum antibiotics eg. penicillin G.

(c) Antiseptics can be defined as antimicrobial agents, which can be applied on the body of living organisms to inhibit the action of microbes.
