In chemistry, some reactions produce a large number of bubbles or fizz very quickly. This phenomenon is called effervescence. When the bubbling happens very fast, it is specifically known as brisk effervescence.

This occurs because carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas is released during the reaction. Since gases have low solubility in liquids, CO₂ escapes quickly in the form of bubbles, leading to rapid fizzing.

Example: When sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) reacts with acetic acid (CH₃COOH), brisk effervescence can be observed due to the quick release of carbon dioxide.

The chemical reaction is: CH₃COOH + NaHCO₃ → CH₃COONa + CO₂ ↑ + H₂O

Brisk effervescence is the rapid evolution of CO₂ gas, which creates bubbles during a chemical reaction.
