Delhi became the capital city of the Tomar Rajputs kingdom in the 12th century.
It was under the Tomar Rajputs that Delhi became a capital city in the twelfth century. Delhi, ultimately, developed into a significant commercial hub under the rule of the Tomaras and Chauhans. However, the Chauhans, also known as Chahamanas of Ajmer, overthrew the Tomar Rajputs in the middle of the twelfth century. Moreover, the city was home to many wealthy Jaina merchants who built several temples there.
