When denaturation of proteins occurs, the covalent bonds between amino acids gets broken. This causes unfolding and uncoiling of globules and helix respectively. As a result, the structure of protein gets disrupted and consequently protein loss its functioning. Both secondary and tertiary structures of proteins get destroyed except primary structure.
