Apcial meristems give rise to the primary plant body and are responsible for the extension of the roots and shoats, partially differntiated tissue of apcial meristem known as primary meristems. There are three primary meristems – 1) The protoderm, which will become the epidemis 2) The ground meristem – which will form the ground tissue

3) Procambium which will become the xylem and phloem (vascular tissue).
