Male Reproductive system consists of

  • Testes: One pair are present in 4th to 6th abdominal segments.
  • Vas deferens:
    i) It arises from posterior end of each testis.
    ii) The two vasa deferentia run backwards and open into ejaculatory duct.
  • Ejaculatory duct:
    i) It is a wide median duct.
    ii) It is present in 7th segment.
    iii) It opens at male genital pore on ventral phallomere.
  • Mushroom gland:
    i) It is present in 6th and 7th abdominal segments.
    ii) It has two types of tubules.
  • Utriculi majores:
    i) They are outer long tubules
    ii) They form inner layer of spermatophores
  • Utriculi breviores:
    i) They are central short tubules.
    ii) They nourish the sperm.
  • Seminal vesicles:
    They store sperms in the form of spermatophore.
  • Phallic gland:
    i) It is present near gonopore.
    ii) It secretes outer layer of spermatophore.
  • Phallomeres:
    i) They are 3 phallomeres present around male genital pore.
    ii) They help in copulation.

Female Reproductive system consists of

  • Ovaries:
    i) A pair of ovaries are present in 2nd to 6th abdominal segments.
    ii) Each ovary has 8 ovarioles.
    iii) Each ovariole has anterior germarium with developing ova and a posterior vitellarium with mature ova.
  • Oviducts: Posterior part of ovarioles unite to form oviducts.
  • Vagina:
    i) It is a short median duct.
    ii) It opens into genital pouch through female genital pore.
  • Spermathecae:
    i) A pair of spermathecae present in 6th segment.
    ii) They store sperms
  • Collateral glands:
    i) A pair of collateral glands open into genital pouch.
    ii) They secrete hard egg case called ootheca.
  • Genital pouch:
    i) It is formed by 7th, 8th and 9th abdominal sterna it also called brood pouch.
  • Gonapophyses:
    i) 3 pairs of gonapophyses are present around female genital pore.
    ii) They help in copulation and guiding the ova into ootheca.
