Detailed Solution

The three events that take place during photosynthesis are as follows:

1) Light energy absorption by chlorophyll.

2) The splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen and the conversion of light energy to chemical energy.

3) Reduction of carbon dioxide into carbohydrates. It is not essential that these steps take place one after the other immediately. For instance, desert plants absorb carbon dioxide at night and produce an intermediate that is then regulated by the energy that chlorophyll absorbs during the day.
